What if we told you that there’s a legal way to enjoy vaping THC? Sounds too good to be true? If so, chances are you’ve yet to hear about the cannabinoid delta 8 THC.
We know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t delta 8 THC the illegal chemical that gets users high?” Nope, you’re thinking of the infamous delta 9 THC. Although delta 8 THC and delta 9 THC are quite similar, the 2018 US Farm Act only bans delta 9 THC.
So, why would anyone want to vape a delta 8 THC cart? Although we don’t have much scientific evidence on delta 8 THC’s benefits, there are anecdotal reports that suggest this cannabinoid could help with conditions like chronic pain and anxiety. But before we dive into why you should consider vaping delta 8 THC, let’s take a closer look at what this cannabinoid is.
What’s The Deal With Delta 8 THC Vape Carts??
Delta 8 THC is one of the dozens of unique compounds called “cannabinoids” only found in cannabis plants. Chemically speaking, delta 8 THC is almost identical to delta 9 THC, but it has its double bond on a different carbon chain. Unsurprisingly, delta 8 THC is bonded on the eighth chain while delta 9 THC is connected on the ninth.
Delta 8 vs delta 9, which one is better? Current research suggests delta 8 THC may be a degraded form of delta 9 THC that appears late in the harvest phase. This would help explain why delta 8 THC content is so low compared with CBD and delta 9 THC. Most cannabis strains only have about 1 percent total delta 8 THC content, making extraction of this cannabinoid challenging and costly.
However, thanks to the latest advances in extraction technology, scientists can now distill large quantities of delta 8 THC. Since these new procedures make it easier to isolate delta 8 THC, researchers and consumers have become increasingly interested in its many potential uses.
Please note: all of our delta 8 THC cartridges have been third-party tested to ensure they have no more than 0.3 percent delta 9 THC. Organic CBD Nugs’ delta 8 THC cartridges are also free from solvent residue, extraneous plant materials, and pesticides.
Do Delta 8 THC Vape Cartridges Get You High?
Although it appears delta 8 THC has psychedelic properties, this cannabinoid is nowhere near as potent as its “big brother” delta 9 THC. Indeed, a popular reason people vape delta 8 THC is to take advantage of delta 9 THC’s purported benefits without feeling “dazed & confused.”
Recently, the National Cancer Institute published a definition of delta 8 THC that suggested this cannabinoid has a “lower psychotropic potency” versus delta-9-THC. NCI researchers also said there’s good reason to believe delta 8 THC has anti-anxiety, anti-nausea, and pain-relieving properties.
Just like delta-9-THC, it seems delta 8 THC works by binding to the CB1 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. Some researchers contend delta 8 THC might also bind with CB2 receptors, but we need more data to verify this theory.
Bottom line: even though we don’t know a great deal about delta 8 THC’s effects, it appears to have mild psychotropic properties. You probably won’t feel an intense “high” while vaping delta-8-THC, but it will have more noticeable effects than CBD.
Are Delta 8 THC Vape Carts Legal In The USA?
Even though marijuana is illegal per US federal law, there are no restrictions on hemp-derived delta 8 THC vape cartridges. The 2018 US Farm Act only explicitly bars the sale and manufacture of delta-9-THC. As long as hemp-derived delta-8-THC cartridges have no more than 0.3 percent delta-9-THC content, they are legal in the USA.
Please keep in mind that each state could enact its own hemp laws. Plus, since delta 8 THC vape cartridges are relatively new, some municipalities might pass specific restrictions in the ensuing months. As always, we strongly recommend reviewing your area’s current laws before purchasing any of our CBD or delta 8 THC products.
Is Delta 8 THC Similar To CBD?
Even though both delta 8 THC and CBD are found in the hemp plant, there are significant differences between these cannabinoids. Most significantly, CBD is non-psychoactive, but delta 8 THC is slightly psychoactive. Vapers accustomed to CBD’s subtle effects should prepare for a more pronounced vaping session when using delta-8-THC.
We should also point out that delta 8 THC has a greater chance of appearing on a drug test versus CBD. Since delta 8 THC is closely related to delta 9 THC, it’s understandable why many standard tests can’t tell the difference between these compounds.
We don’t advise vaping delta 8 THC carts a few days before a drug screening. You could, however, use CBD isolate powder safely during the workweek. To find out more about CBD isolate powder, please check out our product line on this page.
Why Should I Vape Delta 8 THC?
For many vapers, delta 8 THC is the “Goldilocks” cannabinoid. While not as intense as delta-9-THC, it offers a bit more “oomph” than a standard CBD vape juice. People who want a more potent vaping experience than CBD are a good fit for delta 8 THC vape cartridges.
On the other hand, if you’re someone who can’t tolerate the elevated delta-9-THC levels in medical marijuana, delta 8 THC might be a good option. These vape cartridges will offer many of the benefits of delta-9-THC without the disorienting “high” sensation.
Just a few effects customers sometimes report while vaping delta 8 THC include nausea relief, mental clarity, and appetite stimulation. Patients struggling with chronic pain, anxiety, or depression often enjoy the uplifting effects associated with delta 8 THC.
Please remember we don’t have enough scientific data to prove any anecdotal reports surrounding delta 8 THC’s effects. Scientists are only in the initial stages of investigating this cannabinoid, so be sure to speak with a doctor if you have specific medical questions.
If you don’t feel ready to try delta 8 THC vape cartridges, we suggest testing the waters with our premier high-CBD flowers. All of the hemp strains in our catalog are cultivated for optimal CBD percentages, but they usually have traces of secondary cannabinoids like delta 8 THC. This gives users a chance to experience the “full-spectrum” of hemp cannabinoids and terpenes without worrying about the potentially psychedelic effects of straight delta 8 THC.
